What’s your secret passion? Writing a novel? Becoming an actress? A singer? Want to start your own business? What about beginning an exercise program? Why aren’t you where you want to be in life?
Maybe you are, but more than likely you’re like the millions of us who can’t seem to find the time or motivation to accomplish our goals. Too often we sacrifice our dreams and desires on the altar of fleeting pleasures. We’d rather watch TV than do the hard work of practicing piano or reading a book on business. We also make excuses.
“I’ll start my book this winter when things are less busy.”
“I don’t have time to do voice lessons.”
“Eating healthy costs too much money.”
What if instead of saying “I’m going to start my novel tomorrow” we said “I will spend 10 minutes writing every day”. Just 10 minutes of working on something small and easily accomplishable that will move us in the direction of our goal. 10 minutes free of distractions. 10 minutes to ourselves. 10 minutes to love our lives more.
10 minutes a day is 7 workdays a year. When is the last time you took off 7 days of work to pursue a dream? 10 minutes a day builds momentum. Momentum builds strength and success over the long haul.
Try it. Just 10 minutes a day. It might turn your life around.
Very inspiring, Josh. Thanks for the thought-provoking post!
